Gear Hub: Julbo FURY Sunglasses
Whatever your outdoor sport, the right sunglasses make all the difference when it comes to protection, comfort and performance. I was excited to test the Julbo FURY recently on some casual ski adventures. I am looking forward to trying these out for cycling this summer and fall, as their super lightweight and designed to fit under any helmet, yet I really think these sunglasses may be an equally ideal match for spring ski touring.
The FURY has a distinct style, featuring sharp lines and bright colors. On a cloudy morning that transitioned to a sunny day, it was amazing to see the Reactiv photochromatic lenses get darker to match the conditions. My eyes felt fully protected from the rays coming from the sky and off of the snow, and as I moved uphill on skis, the full venting feature made it so the lenses didn’t fog up.
The sun protection and ventilation features are key, yet I was most impressed that I could wear the FURY sunglasses instead of ski goggles as we de-skinned and headed back down the mountain. Even with all their ventilation, these didn’t allow air to penetrate into my eyes when I picked up speed on the downhill. The flexible and shock-absorbing nose grip on the bridge keeps the sunglasses in place when I’m skiing, and I can’t wait to see how they respond to bumps and corners when I get them out on a mountain bike soon.
The Julbo FURY with the Reactiv photochromatic lenses are $219.95. BUY NOW
