Gear Hub: DÆHLIE Sportswear Run Pieces Are On Point This Season

Running season is here in full force and while you’re adding up miles on the trail or track, a quality kit is a vital addition to your training plan. Daehlie Sportswear is well known for cross-country ski wear, so naturally the Norwegian brand has successfully crossed into the summer and fall seasons with endurance efforts like running.

I recently tested a full Daehlie Sportswear run kit on a high-alpine adventure day running Segment 7 the Colorado Trail. I wore the Elite Run Shorts, Elite Run Singlet and the Intensity Jacket, along with a favorite pair of Smartwool running socks, the Salomon Ultra W /Pro trail running shoes and an Ultimate Direction hydration vest.

The feeling of “wearing nothing” is definitely true with the Daehlie Elite Run Shorts. The wide band on these mid-rise shorts stays put and doesn’t dig in. The super-light microfiber is quick-drying and allows for full range of motion. I spilled some water on them while filtering stream water with the Lifestraw Peak Squeeze Water Filer System and the damp fabric dried in a few shorts minutes. The inner liner of the shorts is made in a soft fabric that has great stretch and moisture wicking properties. I was truly comfortable in the Elite Run Shorts for five hours as we ran 13.5 miles, climbed and then descended over 3k in vertical feet.

Light and fast are the two best words to describe the Elite Run Singlet from Daehlie. With a focus on temperature control, this tank is constructed using an advanced technical fabric, composed of knitted mesh that is highly breathable and provides exceptional moisture wicking and quick-drying properties. This top weighs just 56 grams and like the shorts it feels like you’re wearing nothing at all. While I’d say the shorts run true to size, the singlet runs a little larger so order accordingly to how much room you want to have in your wear.

The most unique piece in the Daehlie kit I tested is the Intensity Jacket. Like the shorts and singlet, this piece is impressively lightweight, yet the strategic ventilation makes the jacket a go-to piece for training in warm to cool conditions. I started the 6 a.m. mountain run with the jacket and didn’t remove it until the sun was really on me. It’s perfect for taking off a chill in early morning or evening hours. The full-zip jacket also features a zippered back pocket, elastic hem and cuffs, chin guard and reflective details throughout. I haven’t yet tested Daehlie's Intensity T-Shirt, but like the jacket it features grid mesh ventilation to offer temperature control in warmer conditions.

These Daehlie pieces are available in women’s and men’s. Happy running!
