Stay + Play: Hotel Maverick, Grand Junction
An evening spent at Devil’s Kitchen in the Hotel Maverick calls for at least one cocktail out on the rooftop. Here, guests can take in a sweeping angle of Grand Junction paired with panoramic views of the Grand Mesa and Colorado National Monument.
Spoke+Blossom and Sauvage Spectrum raised some glasses together at the open-air venue for the launch of our collaborative All Day Verde white wine (more on page 14 of this issue) on Friday, July 21, 2023, making way for a memorable weekend with Hotel Maverick as our home-away-from-home.
After an eventful happy hour out on the Devil’s Kitchen patio, my husband and S+B co-owner, Bobby L’Heureux, and I enjoyed a delicious dinner inside that included local Palisade wine and regionally-inspired dishes, like Fiery Pueblo Chili and Gnocchi Panzanella, then finished with some Maple Bacon Doughnuts for dessert. The short walk to our room in Hotel Maverick was a welcome finale to the night.
Located on the Colorado Mesa University campus, the hotel has a central location for access to all Mesa County has to offer. For those visiting from out-of-state, Hotel Maverick is only a 10-minute drive from Grand Junction Regional Airport.
Our plan was to road bike Colorado National Monument in a loop from Grand Junction to Fruita and back. Bobby and I embarked early Saturday morning, just before 8 a.m., and made it back well before noon to grab coffees and a pastry at Betty’s, a coffee lounge on the hotel’s first floor.
For those looking to adventure by car instead of bicycle, Hotel Maverick has a Rest and Recharge package available to electric vehicle owners. In partnership with Colorado Mesa University, guests can recharge their electric vehicle while also replenishing their own energy. The package includes a sleep mask, noise machine and meditation playlist, as well as an oil diffuser with calming scents from local health and beauty company Mesa Lavender. Guests also have access to CMU’s recreation center and Hotel Maverick’s hot tub.
Hotel Maverick has set a new bar for more elevated accommodations in the area. Head there for just an evening, an overnight or a full getaway to see for yourself.
