Enstrom Candies and its tradition of making Easter eggs began with Chet Enstrom, who had learned the art of candy making at Barthel’s Confectionary in Colorado Springs.

“He created the eggs for his store using those recipes,” explains Chet’s granddaughter Jamee Simons. “In the beginning, he only made tutti-frutti. When my parents joined the business in 1965, they added fudge, vanilla fudge and Swiss cream. [My husband] Doug and I added the peanut butter fudge. I don’t remember who came up with the coconut cream …”

Each Enstrom Easter egg is a testament to quality craftsmanship. Originally, every egg was hand-dipped, a labor-intensive process that ensured meticulous attention to detail. As demand for these treats grew, hand-dipping became unsustainable, leading Enstrom Candies to invest in an enrober to maintain production without compromising quality. Every egg is still carefully filled with premium fudge or cream, coated in the finest chocolate and decorated with precision.

CUSTOM EASTER EGGS

One of the most heartwarming aspects of Enstrom’s Easter eggs is the ability to personalize them. Customers can request names or special messages, making these confections a unique and meaningful gift.

A particularly memorable request came from a family that ordered eggs with their children’s names for an Easter egg hunt, adding a personalized touch to their holiday tradition.

Enstrom Candies offers a variety of flavors to satisfy every sweet tooth. Customers can choose from Swiss cream, pecan fudge and peanut butter, each with its own devoted fan base. Swiss cream remains a classic favorite, while peanut butter fudge has gained popularity in recent years.

“My favorite flavor of egg was Swiss cream,” shares Simons. “I would pick out my egg early in the season, but many seasons we would run out of eggs and guess whose egg was sold as well?

A COMMUNITY TRADITION

For many customers, Enstrom’s handmade Easter eggs are more than just a treat — they are a cherished part of their Easter celebrations. Families return year after year to purchase these eggs for Easter baskets, gifts and gatherings. Through the years, these confections have become woven into the fabric of Easter traditions, creating lasting memories with every bite.

Enstrom Candies continues to honor its legacy of quality and tradition, ensuring that its Easter eggs remain a delightful part of springtime celebrations for generations to come.
