Kids Winter Gear From Head To Toe
Having been an outdoor educator for the past 10 years in a variety of climates and conditions, I’ve seen the best and worst of kids battling winter weather. From prepared skiers so bundled up they could barely move to putting plastic bags over socks to “waterproof” feet, I know when a good product will stand up to the outdoor elements. Now, with experience as a forest school teacher in British Colombia and a writer for Spoke+Blossom, I am sharing some winter gear essentials to keep kids happy and warm from head to toe.

Buy Used - Worn Wear
Classics like the down puffy and fleece sweater are available second hand at half the price at this online Patagonia retailer. Limited sizes and patterns are available, but it’s worth a look to recycle something that lasts.
PRO TIP: Stocking your home with winter essentials for the family can get expensive, but buying from your local secondhand shop or online buy/sell group creates local business and recycles clothing while being efficient on a family budget. Keep on the lookout for wool layers and coats that can be handed down from sibling to sibling at these stores.
